EMS Billing Coordinator

Department: Billing & Collection Reports to: Customer Service Rep. Supervisor

• Processes technical documents for EMS services, and maintains account records; performs duties within scope of authority and training, and in compliance with City policies.
• Responds to billing and account questions from customers and insurance providers; prepares reports.
• Supports the departmental operations with regular and timely attendance.
• Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines : High School diploma or GED required; AND two years' customer service experience, including insurance claims processing.

Knowledge of:

• Principles of accounting, record keeping, and records management.
• Medicare, medical, insurance, and federal document processing guidelines, rules, and regulations
• Business and personal computers, and accounting software applications.

Skill in:

• Resolving customer service problems.
• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with City employees.
• Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

License and certification requirements: A valid Texas State Driver's License is required.

Physical demands and working environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to operate equipment, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing and data entry. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While mostly performed in a standard office environment, this job occasionally requires exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Skills test: Typing test required. Typing tests are administered at the Texas Workforce Solutions office in Odessa, TX on 2626 JBS Parkway. THE TEXAS WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS OFFICE IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC BY WALK-IN.

• Applicant must be registered for workintexas prior to arriving for testing.
• Workforce Solutions may register the applicant and administer typing test within the 1 hour appointment time frame.
• Applicant must have an email address and provide name, address, and phone.
• Applicant must be available during the testing schedule which is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Workforce Solutions location.
• Applicants have three opportunities to test and the best score out of the three is considered.
